Job Application Tracker for Google Sheets in 3 Clicks

Export your job list as a CSV, upload it in Google Sheets, and add two formulas that count statuses and show days since you applied.

You can move a job application tracker into Google Sheets by exporting a CSV from the tracker, then choosing File, Import, Upload in Sheets. The free Job Log tracker writes dates as YYYY-MM-DD, so Sheets reads them as real dates and you can sort and do math on them right away.

How do I get my list into Google Sheets?

  1. In Job Log, click Export CSV.
  2. In Google Sheets, choose File, Import, Upload and pick the file.
  3. Each application is then one row, with the same columns Job Log uses: Company, Role, Link, Date applied, Status, Next step and Notes.

Seven columns are enough for a job search, so there is nothing to set up first.

How do I bring my edits back?

Edit in Sheets all you like, then choose File, Download, CSV. In Job Log, click Import CSV and pick that file. Columns match by name, so keep the headers as they were.

What formulas are worth adding?

Two are worth it. Add both in new columns to the right of your data.

  • Status counts: =COUNTIF(E2:E7,"Applied") counts the rows whose Status is Applied. Change the word to count Received, Interview and so on. (COUNTIF reference)
  • Days since you applied: =TODAY()-D2, filled down, with the cell formatted as a number. (TODAY reference)

What does that look like on a real list?

Here is a made-up export of six applications, read on 2026-10-26.

CompanyDate appliedStatusDays since (2026-10-26 minus date)
Northwind Labs2026-10-12Applied14
Fabrikam Health2026-10-13Received13
Contoso Freight2026-10-14Interview12
Tailspin Foods2026-10-14Rejected12
Adatum Energy2026-10-19Applied7
Litware Bank2026-10-21Applied5

The status counts come out to Applied 3, Received 1, Interview 1, Rejected 1, which adds to 6. Three of the six (Received, Interview, Rejected) have a reply of some kind, or 50%.

For follow-ups, the Job Log FAQ says most replies take 3 to 10 days. Filter for Status = Applied and Days since of 10 or more. Only Northwind Labs, at 14 days, qualifies. Adatum Energy (7) and Litware Bank (5) are still inside the normal window.

Checklist before you rely on the sheet

  • Dates stay in YYYY-MM-DD, or the Days since formula returns the wrong number.
  • Keep the six status words as they are: Applied, Received, Interview, Offer, Rejected, Closed.
  • Download a fresh CSV before you import, so you do not import an old copy over newer work.
  • Delete the two formula columns before you download the CSV for Job Log, so the file has only the seven columns.
  • Job Log keeps its list in your browser on your device, and clearing site data removes it, so keep an exported copy.
